Equivalent exchange, a silent promise that hard work and dedication will have an equal payoff in the end. If every life gives enough to the world, the world will reward each valiant effort with a prize that proves all experiences, both the good and the bad, have meaning.
Life is not so simple a thing. Equivalency wears many faces. Quite often, it's meaning is lost in the midst of chaos.
Edward Elric has used all his knowledge of alchemy to call his younger brother's body back from the Gate of truth, but not without paying a hefty price. In exchange, Al has lost his memories of their journey together, and Ed has no chance of ever reclaiming his lost arm and leg. The boys are separated, neither knowing if the other still lives - a torment they both must endure.
Every action has a consequence. It too is not always apparent at first glance.
Such is the way of the world.
The citizens of Amestris have been left with the daunting task of rebuilding shattered lives in the wake of the various conflicts coddled by the false Fuhrer. The military struggles to regroup their ranks and renew their reputation in the eyes of the people by surrendering complete control to the old assembly.
Not everyone can forgive and forget the indiscretions committed against them. Little-by-little, people strive to find a target to unleash their pent up anger and frustration.
And so, our story begins in a conflicted world on the verge of a civil war.
The RP is based off of the first anime series, as a sort of alternative universe that does not consider the events of the movie. Edward is still in Amestris, saved from being thrust into the other side of the Gate by some unknown influence. That "influence" will be revealed much later in the story. It is up to the player of Edward where exactly on Amestris he is located currently. The RP starts right after Edward attempts to bring Al back from the Gate.

Now onto the obligatory set of rules, followed closely by the necessary application. Be sure to read everything carefully, as I’ve included a secret phrase which must be added to your application in order to be considered.
Rules:
1. No one is to take “control” of another players character without their permission prior to the act. Private messaging on the boards is there for a reason. Use it to your advantage.
2. Keep the battles real, folks. No one is invincible. If someone stabs your character in the skull with the sharp end of a sword, he/she cannot continue with it sticking out of their head. Even for dramatic purposes. <____< On the other side of the coin, no character can be killed unless permission from the player is given. Take it easy!
3. Any character from the game can be claimed: hero of villain, and both if you like. You may claim as many characters as you think you can handle. I’ve only claimed Izumi, because I plan to temporarily take over any others who are not yet taken, including any NPCS, in order to keep things rolling smoothly.
I do accept OC's, though the application is a little more expansive if you choose to bring in an original creation to the story. Anyone with an OC character, must also pick a canon character as well. This is only to fill as much as the cast as possible.
4. This group may contain mature content. I don’t mind graphic scenes. In fact, I encourage them! Don’t apply if you’re uncomfortable with the thought. Anything OVERLY explicit should be marked as such.
5. GOOD GRAMMAR AND CORRECT SPELLING ARE A MUST!! I don’t want 1337 speak or internet lingo of any kind. I need to be able to read your post in order to properly respond to it. Posts should be well thought out. I’m specifically looking for people who are innovative, who can think for themselves. People who don’t need to be shown a direction to move toward, but instead can create their own path to follow. Though I have a general idea of where the rp will eventually head, anything can happen. Nothing you do will mess up the plot I have in mind, so don't be afraid to be creative!
6. I know how hectic life can get. I’m a college student myself, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to post at least ONCE A WEEK, though more often would be preferable. It keeps things going and prevents the group from dying. If something comes up, give a shout-out and let us know! If you’re absent for longer than a week, I will take control of your character without prior warning.
